Fr. Chris Walsh is one of the most blessed priests in the Catholic Church: he serves a wonderful parish, he is often surrounded with talented people searching for holiness and he has a small fridge that is constantly supplied with Guinness!
Fr. Chris grew up in West Chester, the fifth of six kids (with an abundance of scars that tell the story). He attended Catholic schools before studying Sociology at Temple University. Following his education (inside and outside of the classroom) at Temple, Fr. Chris worked in the mental health field for three years at The Devereux Foundation.
Through the grace of Almighty God he heard the call to the priesthood (he was shocked, his family was really shocked, his friends were really, really shocked). He studied at St. Charles Borromeo Seminary for six years before ordination in May 1999. He served his “rookie priest” assignment at Our Lady of Ransom in Northeast Philadelphia, followed by an amazing four years at Archbishop Wood Catholic High School (high school is a lot more enjoyable as a teacher) before being given the grace of serving as pastor at St. Raymond of Penafort in Philadelphia’s Cedarbrook neighborhood.
While Fr. Chris spends most of his time in priestly service, he does enjoy travel, traditional Irish music and dinner with friends when time allows.
